The “Trio Education: Trainers, Parents, Children” project commences by examining the current situation within the partner institutions’ respective regions. This analysis encompasses two key aspects: firstly, the prevalence of aggressive behavior among children and adolescents, which manifests in diverse ways across educational settings, households, social centers, medical-social facilities, streets, playgrounds, and other contexts. Secondly, it addresses the specific professional requirements of trainers within these partner institutions to support parents in actively participating in their children’s education.
In their respective regions of France, Spain, Romania, Italy, and North Macedonia, the partner institutions are grappling with a rising trend of youth aggression, further exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. It becomes imperative to provide training for trainers and facilitate the exchange of effective practices among parents. This is essential because the aggressive conduct displayed by young individuals may conceal underlying issues that, if left unaddressed, could lead to challenges in their social and vocational integration later on.
The primary focus of the project is on the trainers within the partner associations, including social workers, education professionals, educational counselors, and multidisciplinary practitioners. These individuals require intervention strategies to effectively respond to the numerous requests for assistance from families grappling with challenges in raising their aggressive children.
Parents often explain their children’s aggressive behavior with statements like, ‘I’m not sure how to handle this,’ and at times, they might even deny their children’s behavior, indicating a lack of deep understanding. Several factors contribute to the escalation of children’s aggression. Firstly, educational systems tend to discourage punitive measures. Additionally, some parents resist collaboration in addressing their children’s aggressive tendencies and fail to actively contribute to their upbringing. Given the diverse ways in which children express aggression, it’s crucial to provide tailored support that aligns with the specific type of aggression, individual needs, and parental expectations.
Only a limited number of institutions offer guidance to parents on effectively handling everyday conflicts. Consequently, there is a growing imperative for associations to take on the role of educating parents based on the scientific principles of psycho-pedagogy.
